Elevating Communication with LifeMission Church Using the Solidcom SE Pro

Hollyland and LifeMission Church collaborate to streamline communication for service production teams and videography

“The native noise cancellation on the microphones makes operation in a live sound environment much easier. There's almost no interference from environmental noise from users who are near speakers.”

LifeMission Church

Recently, Hollyland partnered with LifeMission Church and its AV team to explore how their team's communication efforts could be elevated to the next level, leaving their outdated solutions behind. LifeMissions Church is located in Olathe, Kansas, where they conduct services to bring people from all walks of life together. LifeMission Church has multiple campuses and serves communities in Ottawa, Kansas City, and Escondido, California. With a desire to conduct services and weekly events for their communities, LifeMission Church was in need of an updated solution for their teams to work wirelessly while still completing their tasks so congregations can worship. Founded in 2002 by Clint and Mary Sprague, the church began as a Bible study in their home and has since grown into a vibrant community committed to transforming lives and communities.

Hollyland worked with LifeMissions Church by sending them a set of the Solidcom SE Pro to test out. We wanted to test the limits of the house of worship space to see if the headsets could guarantee the noise cancellation in one of the louder environments. LifeMissions Church received a six-set wireless intercom system to configure for their whole staff. The Solidcom SE Pros is Hollyland’s newest fully wireless intercom system with 1,100 ft. of range, operates on the 1.9 GHz frequency, and includes the Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) technology. Supporting up to 10 headsets without a hub, the Solidcom SE Pro truly embodies wireless communication solutions for any kind of production.

Project Overview

Hollyland had the pleasure of connecting with Joseph Cottle, the current AVL Director of the Olathe, Greater Kansas City, area. Joseph contacted us through some mutuals in the house of worship space, and the opportunity to assist was one Hollyland couldn’t pass up. After speaking with Joseph, Hollyland better understood how the products would be used and how we could positively impact his team's efforts to cover more ground and certain shots when it came to services. With a service size of about 1,300 people, the amount of interference was a concern before working with Joseph and his team. Additionally, with a service of over 1000 people, the amount of noise coming from the audience and the band would be a lot to overcome when it came to a communications solution.

While LifeMission Church had the Solidcom SE Pros, they used them on a multitude of live shows and weekend services. Each live performance comes with its own set of practices and performance runthroughs to ensure that teams know what they covered and who was responsible for each shot during services and live streams. One of the Life music shows they had was called “One Found Worthy,” a large show with three show times over two days. Each of the practices and rehearsals involved the Solidcom SE Pros and allowed their team to stretch the limits of the closed environment to see how other churches and places of worship may apply similar solutions.

"Overall, the headsets worked quite well. The sound was clear, and easy to operate and the head and earpiece were very comfortable. The noise canceling aspect was very nice to have."

How did Hollyland help during your project?

Despite initial concerns that ambient noise from the audience or worship team might interfere with communication, the LifeMission Church team was pleasantly surprised by the performance of the Solidcom SE Pro system. Even when positioned directly next to powerful stage speakers, team members were able to hear one another with remarkable clarity. Thanks to Hollyland’s advanced ENC (Environmental Noise Cancellation) technology, users can communicate clearly and confidently, no matter how loud or dynamic the environment may be. This feature has given the team the freedom to move throughout the venue—whether on stage, backstage, or in the tech booth—without losing signal quality or clarity.

Having used a variety of communication systems in the past, the team at LifeMission Church quickly recognized that the Solidcom SE Pro stood out from the crowd. Its combination of performance, flexibility, and thoughtful engineering set it apart from other solutions they had previously relied on. One feature that quickly proved to be a standout was the headset’s impressive 10-hour battery life, coupled with the ability to swap out batteries quickly and easily. This became especially useful during long events or back-to-back services, where turnaround time is minimal and reliability is non-negotiable. For a fast-paced production environment, the SE Pro offered the kind of dependable uptime and quick adaptability that teams dream of.

When asked about the setup process and whether the system lived up to its “plug-and-play” reputation, team leader Joseph shared his firsthand experience: “The SEs are quite literally a plug-and-play product. We pulled out the master headset, put in a battery, and turned it on. All the other headsets synced up afterwards without any issue, and the system performed flawlessly.” His account echoes what many users have come to love about Hollyland’s approach—products that are designed to work straight out of the box, with minimal configuration and no complicated setup process.

Hollyland takes great pride in this seamless user experience, striving to deliver systems that not only meet the needs of technical teams but also enhance their efficiency and confidence. With features that cater to both seasoned AV professionals and volunteers alike, the Solidcom SE Pro continues to show its value in environments where time, clarity, and reliability are critical.

Takeaways

After over five months of continuous use, LifeMissions Church has found the Solidcom SE Pro intercom system to be a reliable and integral part of their communication workflow. The church has continued to rely on these systems to streamline communication between team members, especially during live services, rehearsals, and production setups. With a strong and stable communication channel that adapts well to fast-paced environments, the Solidcom SE Pro has proven to be an invaluable tool for AV teams, technical crews, and event coordinators alike.

Designed to promote clear and effortless communication, the system has not only improved operational efficiency but has also elevated the overall production quality at LifeMissions Church. Hollyland is proud to see the Solidcom SE Pro systems being utilized in dynamic and creative ways, stretching beyond traditional use cases to support a variety of church and event production needs.

A key aspect that sets the Solidcom SE Pro apart is its thoughtful design, prioritizing both comfort and durability. This has made it particularly well-suited for users who need to wear the headsets for extended periods, such as during long shoots, worship services, or tech rehearsals. The ergonomic fit, lightweight build, and premium audio clarity ensure that users experience minimal fatigue while still maintaining high levels of performance and communication accuracy.

Whether it's directing camera operators, coordinating stage changes, or managing livestream feeds, the Solidcom SE Pro continues to be a trusted companion for production teams that value comfort, clarity, and consistency in their communication tools.

Thank you, LifeMission Church, for allowing Hollyland to work with you, and hopefully, we will find more opportunities to collaborate in the future!
