Connected Without Compromise: How Hollyland Solidcom H1 Powered Communication for Foo Fighters Live in Jakarta
For large-scale live events, seamless communication is the backbone of every successful show. During Foo Fighters Live in Jakarta, Hollyland’s Solidcom H1 intercom system delivered reliable, flexible, and resilient crew communication, ensuring every moment on stage and behind the scenes stayed perfectly in sync, even under challenging outdoor conditions.
“Moments in an event can’t be repeated, so communication between crew members is crucial.”
Meet Agung Wicaksono
Based in Indonesia, Agung Wicaksono is an experienced equipment director specializing in large-scale live events and professional communication systems. His work focuses on building reliable, scalable intercom solutions for concerts, festivals, and complex outdoor productions where timing, coordination, and redundancy are essential.
For Foo Fighters Live in Jakarta, Agung and his team were responsible for designing and operating the on-site communication system that connected multiple departments across a demanding live concert environment.

Challenge & Setup
The Foo Fighters concert took place on October 2, 2025, at Carnaval Ancol, Jakarta, an outdoor beachside venue. The environment presented immediate challenges. Heavy rain the day before the event left the site damp and unpredictable, increasing the risk of signal instability and equipment failure. With a large crew operating across stage management, audio, lighting, and technical coordination, uninterrupted communication was non-negotiable.
Traditional communication setups often struggle in environments like this, especially when channel distribution is limited or reconfiguration is slow. For this project, the team needed a system that could support multiple independent communication groups, maintain stable coverage across a wide outdoor area, and operate reliably throughout long event hours.
To meet these demands, Agung deployed the Hollyland Solidcom H1 intercom system, with the Geo Central Station serving as the core control unit. The system was configured for 10 users with two antennas and linked to an existing Clear-Com wired system, allowing seamless integration between wireless and cabled communication networks.

Solving Real On-Site Communication Pain Points
Once deployed, the Solidcom H1 system quickly became central to the event’s operational workflow. Each beltpack could be assigned to its own communication channel, giving the crew far greater flexibility compared to more rigid traditional systems. Departments could coordinate independently while still remaining connected through the central station.
Seamless roaming proved critical on the day of the show. As crew members moved between stage, FOH, and backstage areas, communication remained continuous without manual reconnection or signal drops. This allowed the team to respond instantly to changes during rehearsals and live performance, even as conditions shifted throughout the evening.
Battery reliability was another key factor. With long production hours and limited opportunities for downtime, the Solidcom H1’s extended battery life ensured uninterrupted use throughout the event. The system also allowed operators to monitor signal status and battery levels in real time, reducing uncertainty and helping the technical team stay ahead of potential issues.

“Many people underestimate the importance of communication tools during an event, even though they are crucial.”
— Agung, Equipment Director
While the overall system delivered strong performance, Agung noted areas for future improvement, such as a more intuitive matrix-style user interface and potential development of wired PoE beltpack options. Even so, the flexibility and channel capacity enabled by the Geo Central Station within the Solidcom H1 system marked a clear step forward compared to previous setups.
